"The overarching message is that spending a lot of time sitting or lying down can be bad for overall health and considerably increases your risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes" - Dr. Matthew Hobbs, Head of Research at Diabetes UK
Despite the above being a quote from a research expert, it is something we all intuitively know: sitting or lying down all day can't be good for us AND that main inquiry of WELL HOW LONG are you sitting or lying down in one place for?
Well, you all know what that answer is for you.
Especially over COVID-19 when we had less places to frequent, and now, in the winter and colder weather months, it becomes extremely less appealing to have to put on all that winter gear to take on the outside.
So listen the bottomline is all of us are in the same boat and currently COVID-19 and the COLD weather are not working in our favour.
But, thankfully that does not mean that we don't have the ability to do anything about it.
That's where I come in.
30 minutes of group training, offered 12 times a week.
And as a client so kindly pointed out, with really the first 5 minutes being a warm-up,
the last 5 minutes being a cool-down, that is just 20 minutes of movement.
Every workout is different and it tackles your arms, legs, back, shoulders and abs/core. We usually even take a water break in between circuits so that's really 20 minutes or less.
You do as much as you can, and it's motivating to see others on the screen - working as hard as they can to motivate one another to not give up.
Twenty minutes.
99.9% of shows on Netflix are longer than 20 minutes.
You just need to want to try something new for twenty-minutes that is SURE to break up that pattern of sitting or lying down for too long. It's all you need to get you feeling more energetic, flexible and overall, healthy and motivated every single day.
So while COVID-19 and the winter are trying to bring us down,
Let's combat it with bringing each other up, twenty minutes at a time.
